Taharaa Mountain Lodge was built in 1997 as a Rocky Mountain getaway. This space was the realized dream of Ken and Diane Harlan, a couple who wanted to find a way to help others take full advantage of this unique town. They continued to add onto the site with the Great Hall finishing construction in 2006. The property was then sold to the Tracy Family in 2013, who managed it until 2019.
After that, it was purchased by Sandra Huerta and Thad Eggen, the owners of Twin Owls Steakhouse. The couple brings their own knowledge to the lodge, using their experience running the restaurant to create food-centric events. With their team by your side, you can count on a gorgeous environment elevated by expertly prepared meals!
Details of the Grounds
Taharaa Lodge offers rooms and suites that you will be able to use throughout your wedding weekend. You can use your suite as the spot where you get ready ahead of your ceremony. These areas are spacious with plenty of room to get ready alongside your wedding party. You can break open the champagne, gather together with your wedding party, and make some memories long before your ceremony starts. The nature-inspired interiors and private balconies will be the ideal backdrops for candid pics. They additionally have a dressing room and a salon you can use prior to your celebration.
For your ceremony, you will have several options. If you do prefer an indoor service, you can use the Overlook Room. This spot features floor-to-ceiling windows so you can exchange your vows in front of a mountain without having to stress about the weather. Neutrally-painted walls and wooden accents will carry the lodge feel through this portion of your day.
If you would prefer an outdoor ceremony, you can use The Pergola. This spot is truly magical with a small stage set amidst the pine trees. It’s woodsy and wild while still putting you next to world-class amenities! Meanwhile, your guests can watch comfortably from the wooden benches just feet away.

Once it’s time for your cocktail hour, your guests can head over to the bar and grab some drinks before relaxing in the lounge. This is also a great time for them to explore the property and take in the premium views of the mountain!
Your reception will then take place in the Twin Owls Steakhouse. This is a space that has been created for one-of-a-kind celebrations! The front of the room features a large stone fireplace, while the floor-to-ceiling windows will show off the sun as it sets beneath the mountains. The space has a large, cathedral ceiling outfitted with wooden beams, and the antler chandeliers bring their very own charm. The venue will add a dance floor to ensure your guests have plenty of space to move around! With Taharaa Mountain Lodge, you will be able to host up to 120 guests.
Photography Opportunities
With Taharaa Mountain Lodge, you will have endless possibilities for your wedding portraits! As you get ready, you can step out onto the private balcony so you can get pictures with natural lighting for your close-up. You can also invite out your wedding party so you can get some pics raising a glass to the future!
For your first look, you can head outside the building and meet each other on the path leading to the wedding pergola. This area is picture-perfect with untamed grass surrounding the pavement and the mountains rolling on in the backdrop.
Following your ceremony, you can stick around your site and take group pictures. In the Overlook Room, you will have a large, open space filled with natural lighting. Out in the wedding pergola, you will have an elevated stage where you can easily pose with your family.
For your couple’s portraits, you can explore the site and find countless spots to share an intimate moment. The venue offers open fields, a wooden gazebo, and sprawling country roads. Inside, the lobby offers stylish furniture in front of a gorgeous stone fireplace. It’s the perfect spot to sneak a quick kiss!

The team behind Taharaa Mountain Lodge loves working alongside couples to ensure they can have a wedding unlike any other! The center offers in-house planning that will start assisting you right from the beginning. They will be there to help you with things like timeline creation, room layouts, vendor selection, and more. You will also start to work with their culinary team early on so you can create the best menu for your day! They offer multiple food and beverage packages with customizable options.
You will be able to block out rooms for your guests in the lodge. Meanwhile, your rental will include two nights of lodging for you and your partner in the honeymoon suite. Once your day arrives, the venue will provide you with day-of coordination that will ensure your day goes smoothly. The venue will work exclusively with you, only offering one event per day, so you can get their full attention!
