The Mill is an industrial wedding venue located in the heart of Windsor, Colorado. Dating back to 1899, this space combines its rich history with breathtaking interiors for a wedding day that will be uniquely your own. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I am lucky enough to go all across the area looking at the top venues, and now, I’m here to tell you about my favorites! Here is everything that makes The Mill Event Venue so special!

301 Main Street, Unit D, Windsor, Colorado 80550
The Mill is a premier event venue that prides itself on throwing events you are never going to forget. This building has already lived a number of lives after it was built at the turn of the 19th century. In the early years, it served as a four-level mill where grain could be processed and stored (hence the name).
It became a beacon in the heart of Windsor, standing tall above the rest of the town, and by 1910, journalists began to describe it as the tallest and most modern facility in all of the West. Even when it ceased grain processing, the building was beloved by the entire town and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
Ten years later, a devastating tornado tore through the town, taking the top of the building with it. In the process of redevelopment, an arsonist set a fire that caused much of the historic building to be lost in the flames. Luckily, none of this was the end of the building.
Over the next three years, it underwent extensive renovations before opening its doors in 2020. While the tragedies have caused many of the original features to be destroyed beyond repair, the owners have worked hard to restore much of the charm while also outfitting it to be ready for modern weddings. As a result, you will get all those luscious, historic details without ever having to compromise on comfort!

The Mill Event Venue has been fully customized to ensure you can spend every second of your wedding feeling positively spoiled! When you arrive the morning of your wedding, you can head to the Bridal House–an entire private home where you can get ready alongside your wedding party. This has everything you need to prepare for the day, including a full kitchen, vanities, and even a fenced-in backyard where you can take some pictures showing off your look in natural lighting.
Once it’s time for your ceremony, you can head up to the top floor, where you will have an industrial modern space you can easily transform into your own. The primary event space has vaulted ceilings with iron beams running across. The walls have been painted a neutral shade of off-white, while the wooden floors add a feeling of warmth.
There are strips of exposed brick across the length of the room, while the front features a brick wall where you can place your altar. The large windows throughout the room let the natural light pour in while the iron chandeliers bring their own bit of romance. You will be able to host up to 150 seated guests in this space.
Once it’s time for your cocktail hour, your guests can head over to the bar where they can order specialty drinks. This area stays on theme with the rest of the building, offering an iron wet bar in front of an exposed brick wall. There is a retractable garage door you can open up so your guests can enjoy drinks on the private balcony. During this time, the primary room can be transformed for your reception.
Your evening at The Mill will conclude with your reception, where you will have plenty of space to dance along with your friends and family. The open layout is ideal for large parties, and the venue will work with you to find your ideal floorplan. Additionally, they do have a green wall setup that you can use for a photobooth if you would like.

While The Mill Event Venue is an indoor venue, the windows will ensure your day stays filled with natural light. In addition to using the yard of the Bridal House for your portraits, this area is a favorite for first looks. The lush lawn and the picturesque white picket fence are the perfect background for this intimate moment.
Taking exterior shots with The Mill in the backdrop is practically a must! The iconic brick mixed with the updated metal accents is ideal for your group pictures. Then, once it is time for your portraits, you can head inside! There, you can grab some portraits in front of your altar, seated on the vintage furniture, or on the bar. The exterior balcony and metal staircase can also be perfect for this portion!
The Mill Event Venue knows how to throw parties as legendary as the building itself. Their team is ready to work with you starting from the second you schedule your tour. Once you have the contract submitted, they will get to work helping you find the perfect vendors. They are extremely flexible, giving you the ability to bring in any licensed caterer. They even have a prep kitchen your vendor can use to create your dream menu!
The venue is going to handle drinks, and they will provide you with tables and chairs. Throughout your wedding day, your guests will be able to use the parking lots surrounding the building. Additionally, there is an elevator to make it accessible to people of all abilities.
If you are looking for a historic wedding venue with a twist, I just know you are about to fall madly in love with The Mill Event Venue. This iconic building is ready to give you a day neither you nor your guests will ever forget!
